THE IMPORTANCE
OF “DU
ʿĀ”
(SUPPLICATION)
Praise belongs to Allah (SWT), The
Lord of all worlds, and peace is upon Mu
ḥ
ammad
and his purified progeny.
There
are many “
Ā
y
ā
t”
in the Glorious Qur’an that Allah (j.j.)
refers to supplication for the edification of the believers. Let us read a few of these “
Ā
y
ā
t”
:
Surah
2, al-Baqarah (the Cow),
Ā
yah
186:
“And when my obedient worshippers
ask you [O messenger!] concerning Me, then [tell them] I am, indeed, near. I answer prayer of the supplicant when he
calls on Me. So they should solicit my
response and should believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.”
Surah
7, al- A
ʿ
r
ā
f
(The
Elevated Barrier between the inhabitants of the Paradise and the hell)
Ā
y
ā
t
55
and 56:
“Invoke to your Lord humbly and
secretly. Surely, He does not like those
who exceed the limits. And do not do mischief
on the earth, after it has been put in the right order [by Allah], and pray to Him
with fear and hope. Verily, the mercy of
Allah is nigh to those who do goods.”
Surah
17, al-
’
Isr
ā
’
(The
Israelites),
Ā
yah
110:
“[It is the same] if you invoke to
Allah, or to
Ar-Rahmān
, since there are [many] Names of Outstanding Excellence for Him.”
Surah
40, al-Mu’min (The Believer),
Ā
yah
14
“Therefore, invoke to Allah, having
purified your “
dīn
” for Him, even though the disbelievers dislike it.”
And
Ā
yah
60:
“And your Lord has said: “Call upon
me, I will answer you. Verily, those who
avoid worshiping out of arrogance, will enter hell, in disgrace.”
Also,
Allah (The Almighty) says in a Qudsi
Ḥ
adith
:
“My servant continues drawing near
Me through voluntary, optional and extra worship (such as supplication) until I
love him and when I love him, I am the hearing through which he hears, the
sight through which he grasps, etc.
The
Holy prophet Mu
ḥ
ammad
(ph&hp) says:
“Supplication is the weapon of the believer, the pillar of the “d
ī
n
”, and the light of the heavens
and the earth.
Book No. 16, v. 2, c. 31, p. 37,
h. 95.
The
Noble Wil
ā
yah

beseech our Unique Lord (J.J.). They
have laid great emphasis on frequent recitation of these supplications,
sincerely. They indeed bring about
positive divine energy.

“Supplication
is the most likable deed on earth that is offered to Allah”.
“Supplication
wards off disasters, unpleasant happenings, and evil forebodings”.
“Supplication
is the remedy for all maladies”.
